Renewed contract for Marseille manager Jean-Michel Aulas, with support from the French government.
Aulas' contract at Marseille has been renewed by the French government after he was awarded a new contract in January this year. The agreement is expected to last until June 2021.
Aulas has been instrumental in bringing success to Marseille, who have won four league titles since he took over in 2014. He has also led them to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in his first season as manager.
The deal comes as Marseille prepare for their next big challenge, the Europa League final against Liverpool on April 28th. Aulas will be required to secure a full transfer budget support during the campaign.
"We're very pleased that we can renew our contract," said Aulas. "We're looking forward to continuing to work closely with the board and our supporters."
Aulas' tenure at Marseille has been marked by a number of successes, including winning the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2016. However, he has also had to cope with the financial difficulties faced by the club, which has seen its revenue fall by almost 50% since he took over.
Despite these challenges, Aulas remains committed to the club's long-term future. "I'm here to help Marseille achieve its goals," he said. "We need to focus on building a strong team and delivering results."
